"Pictures from the Past"

"Having trawled through many old photos on my computer I have accumulated them all together in one collective webpage.  This will make it easier to add more photos and experiences in the future without having to create new webpages every time."...Mike G

Caravanning in France, August 2005

This was another caravan trip with my brother as well as friends Dave and Angela and this time we went far afield to the south east of France, near Besançon.  By this time we had a new caravan, a Swift Challenger, which was in fact the best we ever purchased.  As with most of France, at least south of Paris in the northern industrial regions, the area we stayed in was beautiful and we enjoyed our stay tremendously.  Once again we took our bikes with us and rode around the country roads that were largely free of traffic.  Dave and Angele didn't bring their bikes and spent the days largely in their own way (their loss!). We also visited the Fortifications Vauban Besançon, another UNESCO World Heritage site, which at the time was deemed vital for defending the disputed territory between France and Spain.  France is a fantastic country to caravan in as, apart from the beauty, the roads are not crowded, there are frequent Aires to rest at and the campsites are geared up for this type of holiday.
