I'm not sure why we chose to stay at this particular hotel for a few days but it was a good choice as the location on the banks of the Thames at Water Oakley in Berkshire was superb and the hotel itself typically Gothic and with excellent facilities (gym, pool, beautiful bedrooms, great food, etc). I think we took advantage of our kids growing up and allowing us to take relaxing breaks without them. Windsor is not far away and a place called 'Monkey Island' on the River Thames in Bray, Berkshire also worth a visit. Apparently it's a historic site known for its 18th-century, monkey-decorated lounge (in case you wondered!).
